Hangzhou, formerly transliterated as Hangchow, is the capital and largest city of Zhejiang Province in Eastern China.  It was the capital of the South Song Dynasty in ancient China.  Governed as a subprovincial city, and as of 2010, its entire administrative division had a registered population of 8.7 million people.  A core city of the Yangtze River Delta, its position on the Hangzhou Bay 180 kilometres (110 mi) southwest of Shanghai gives it economic power, and moreover, it has also been one of the most renowned and prosperous cities of China for much of the last 1,000 years, due in part to its beautiful natural scenery; the city’s West Lake is its most well-known attraction.  The West Lake is assessed by the United Nations as an Intangible Cultural Heritage,  In recent years, Hangzhou has received more than 40 national and international honor titles, such as the UN Habitat Award, the International Garden City, National Environmental Protection Model City, National Sanitary City, National Model Green City, the State Forest City, China Habitat Environment Prize, China Environment Prize “urban environment” Award, the best commercial city in mainland China, the happiest city in China.

The Zhejiang University of Technology (ZUT) is a comprehensive key university owned by the Zhejiang Provincial Government, and it was established in the Year 1953. The history of the University can be traced back to 1910, when the Zhejiang Intermediate School of Technology was first founded. The ZUT is situated in Hangzhou, a picturesque historical and cultural city in China. As a century-old university, ZUT has gone through various historical periods, namely Hangzhou Chemical Engineering School, Zhejiang Secondary Chemical School, Zhejiang Chemical College, and Zhejiang Engineering College. The University now consists of 3 campuses, covering a total area of over 213 hectares, with a floor space of 840,000 square metres.
